Rockabilly music should maybe have never come into existence. After all, the music is a blend of country, blues, rhythm and blues, and gospel styles all mashed together to create a unique sound. And who would have ever thought to combine these varied styles, let alone thought that the resulting music might actually become popular and eventually be responsible for millions of record sales? Well, luckily for rockabilly and rock and roll fans, there were people back in the 1950s who were willing to do just that type of experimentation and they've left us a wonderfully rich musical legacy!

There won't be any settlement in the lawsuit between Michael Moore and Bob and Harvey Weinstein.

Moore sued the Weinsteins back in February, claiming that they owe him $2.7 million from his film, Farenheit 9/11.

He alleged that they used "financial deception" and "bogus accounting methods" in their production deal.

He continues:

"No settlement. No interest in one. Discovery and depositions will reveal how the accounting is done, once and for all.

Harvey and I have a lot of important history together, brothers in arms. And he and Bob have nothing but a force for good indie filmmakers … I hold no ill will, and for now am just blaming all of this on his accountants and business affairs people."

A lawyer for the Weinsteins dispute the allegations, saying:

"[Harvey and Bob] have paid [Moore] everything he should be paid. [The Weinsteins] would be rushing to settle if they were concerned, but they're not. [The lawsuit] is riddled with inaccuracies and ridiculous claims."

Ouch.

It's too bad when a bad business deals get in the way of a professional relationship.

Governor Andrew Cuomo began a campaign this week to legalize gay marriage in New York.

He's planning on using a strategy that will go on a much different path than the similar bill, which failed in the state two years ago.

Attempting to avoid poor legislative and political planning, like the first time around, Cuomo has assembled a group of A-list political strategists and several gay rights groups to back his campaign.

A spokesman for the governor says:

"This is an important issue for the administration, and the governor is committed to working with New Yorkers to get the marriage equality legislation passed."

Cuomo has made this campaign his "mission" and "feels this is part of where New York should be — at the forefront."

Ross Levi of the Empire State Pride Agenda adds:

"We are going to garner all the resources we can. A strong united community working together is going to be a great asset in accomplishing our goal."

We are proud of Andrew Cuomo's efforts to legalize gay marriage in New York. Good luck to you and all your supporters. We're rooting for you.

Last night David and I made our way to the Neil Simon Theater on Broadway to see the new musical Catch Me If You Can. Altho I had not seen the film, I was very anxious to see this show because one of my favorite Broadway actresses, Kerry Butler, stars in the show. I was only marginally familiar with the story so I hoped that seeing it cold would be entertaining. For the most part, I thought the show was OK … but, unfortch, it wasn’t nearly as exciting or upbeat as I was hoping.

The staging, set design, costumes and overall look of the show are really it’s strongest assets. You can tell that a lot of thought about the time period went into the staging and production of the show. The overriding problem for me was the story … the long, drawn out … not very exciting story. You’d think that a show with an exciting title like Catch Me If You Can would be upbeat, sexy and feature lots of action and showy dance numbers. Sadly, that is not the case. Most of the story in Act I was just rattled off in dialogue … there weren’t too many catchy numbers to sing along to. Of the songs in the show, I couldn’t even remember any of them after the show was over … well, except for one song. Kerry Butler belts out a showstopping number (Fly, Fly Away) at the very end of the show that is THE best song of the show. I was very surprised, tho, that Kerry isn’t featured AT ALL in the entire first Act … and she is billed as the female lead. Thankfully, Act II picked up considerably and manages to save the show from being a total snooze but as a whole … the show only ends up “OK”. That being said, I’m very glad I got to see the show and did enjoy myself, for the most part. I will say that Catch Me If You Can isn’t a show that I would ever feel the need to see again and it’s not a show that I would call a Must See. Lead actor Aaron Tveit is fine in his role as Frank Abagnale, Jr. but for me the real star of the show is Norbert Leo Butz who plays FBI agent Carl Hanratty. He was the best actor/character in the show. David and I had fun but we’ve seen better shows. If you’re a fan of the Catch Me If You Can story, this show might be for you … otherwise, you may be a bit disappointed by the show’s lack of real excitement.

Viral Swiss Jetman Video Shows Wild Grand Canyon Ride (WATCH)

A guy nicknamed the Swiss Jetman can be seen rocketing across the Grand Canyon in a viral Youtube video that would make Evel Knievel proud. Finally, the world of Internet Memes gets a break from the savage beat downs and lightning strikes that we’ve grown accustomed to. I mean, how many times can you watch someone get beaten until they break out into a seizure? Shew. So, today I came across an awesome video of a crazy Swiss guy named Yves Rossy who has a contraption he straps to his back that looks like an advanced jet pack. With less than 10 eps left until The Oprah Winfrey Show goes off the air for good, rumor and speculation is running rampant as to who the final guests will be. According to a new report, that MUST be taken with a grain of salt as there is NO confirmation whatsoever, Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith are said to be Oprah‘s chosen final guests. IMHO, Oprah could’ve gotten someone bigger (anyone at all) but if this report turns out to be true, Will and Jada will have the distinction of being the last guests ever on The Oprah Show.

There has been much speculation over who will be given the honour of being Oprah Winfrey’s last ever guest as her show comes to a close after 25 years. And if recent reports are to be believed, the ‘chosen ones’ to appear on the May 25 show are going to be Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Fans and media reports have been trying to guess who will make the last entrance on the talk show titan’s stage but The Daily reports it will be the Smiths. Options had included Oprah’s long term boyfriend Stedman Graham, couch-jumper Tom Cruise, Jennifer Aniston, Gabrielle Giffords or her protégé Dr Phil McGraw. Smith and his wife and children have been on Oprah’s show many times in the past. Karate Kid star Jaden and Whip My Hair singer Willow have previously joined their parents on the famous couch. With only ten shows left, fans are excited to see who will be on the final episodes. Two of the hours will reportedly be dedicated to A Million Little Pieces author James Frey.

HMMM … this is an interesting report … I’m not sure I totally believe it but the Smiths are as plausible as any other guest. I was under the impression that the last episode ever of The Oprah Winfrey Show would feature no guests at all … just Oprah and her audience. There isn’t much time left until the final episode of Oprah airs and then is gone forever. Do you think Will and Jada Smith will be the final guests? Aaron Eckhart has signed on to play dasterdly Hook in Pan, the newly reimagined flick of J.M. Barrie's timeless story, Peter Pan. This movie is said to be much darker than previous adaptations of the story and it will be taking a more modern approach to the tale. In fact, Captain Hook isn't even a pirate!

In this version, Aaron's plays a former detective who is chasing a "notorious and childlike kidnapper" (TWIST!), who gets help from a girl named Wendy (Soul Surfer star AnnaSophia Robb), who is the only child to escape capture.

So Peter is the fiend and Hook is the hero? Inneresting!

See Hollywood! You can still make all the remakes you want - just add a little more originality to it.
